Case Note 03 / PreSales / Consulting

Making technical POCs repeatable without turning them into bureaucracy.

How a lightweight operating model can create visibility around technical evaluations while preserving the speed and pragmatism that customer work requires.

Approach

01

Make the objective explicit

Document what must be demonstrated or validated and what would count as a technical win.

02

Assign one technical owner

Create a clear point of responsibility while keeping commercial ownership where it belongs.

03

Capture effort close to the work

Record time and accomplished work while the context is still fresh, not weeks later.

04

Surface blockers before the forecast

Keep showstoppers, dependencies and customer actions visible throughout the evaluation.

05

Close with a technical outcome

Finish with a clear won/lost technical result and the reason behind it, so the organization can learn from the pattern.

Outcome

The process creates better resource visibility, cleaner handoffs and more consistent technical outcomes without requiring a heavy project-management layer for every evaluation.

What I learned
Good process does not document everything. It captures the few pieces of information that make ownership, decisions and learning visible.
